Houston rock bands - Deep Ella
With
a nomination for best pop/rock band in 2003 you may already have heard of Deep
Ella. In fact most people already know this is a great band. Don't let that stop
you from taking another listen. Dust off that CD or buy it if you don't own it
yet.
If you already have them in heavy rotation don't despair the guys are in
the process of recording a second album from what I hear.
In the mean time you
may want to take another listen to their first album Lynt (Last Years New Thing)
to tide yourself over. The groove is laid back but infectious. The style falls
somewhere in the rock family, a earthy mixture they like to call "green eggs and
ham".
Flowing effortlessly through many styles
and nuances this bands leaves an impression on
the listener that they love what they do.
Reminiscent of a post modern version of U2 or
Live with a hint of English rock sensibilities with songwriting which is
thoughtful and decisive, this is a good
solid rock album from a good solid rock
band.
The playing is top shelf and the vocals are
pretty exceptional. If there is a weak point it is the production but not enough
to detract from the overall musical value.
The band does not rest on it's studio laurels however they know how to rock a
live show as well. The band are proud to say they are the first band to ever
sell out the Sidecar Pub so you know these guys know how to put on a show.
Congratulations Deep Ella on being our March 2004 Artist of the Month.
