Interview with rock
music artist Lazarus X

Q: It seems like most bands are leaving off the
solos now a days. Why did you choose to feature solos so
prominently on the album
A: "Well I have always been a big fan of the guitar
and I felt like people were ready to hear more musicianship now than maybe
they were a few years ago. I never have been much for
rules when it comes to writing anyway. I just do what feels natural. To me a
solo break is a nice way to keep the music exciting and fresh."
Q: "When did you know you wanted to be a musician?
Was there a particular moment when you knew?"
A: "I can't really say for sure. I always loved
music. I started playing the piano and guitar at a really young age and
always loved to listen and play to all types of music. My parents had a big
record collection and I would rummage through it and play all the old
records like Elvis and the Beatles and Jazz and other stuff. I was hooked on
music at a very young age. When I saw a tape of the Hendrix performance at
Woodstock I was completely floored. If there was one moment I'd say that was
it."
Q: "What are the most serious issues facing the
people of the USA right now in your opinion?"
A: "Terrorism comes to mind, of course. We have to do more to stop it on a
global level and make peace with our enemies and former allies. One of the
things the terrorists hate though are our freedoms which unfortunately we
have all but given up our claim to in the last few years. The Patriot Act
and Patriot Act 2 passed quietly relegating privacy and government
accountability in America to a thing of the past. That is a great tragedy to
me. I also feel it is important that we address economic issues that cause
so many children to die of starvation and easily prevented illnesses. That
is a great injustice in a world where food is so readily abundant and
medicines are so easy to produce. We have got to do more as a country and as
people on this issue. I am also shocked that we put hundreds of thousands of
our own citizens in jail for using the illegal drugs of their choice while
we let tobacco companies kill a hundred thousand people a year. I feel like
it's not our job as a government to make moral choices for our citizens be
it tobacco or other drugs. If they want to do it that's their right even if
they make bad choices."
Q: "True, we allow citizens to do things that are
harmful as long as they are government approved things. Is that what you
mean?"
A: "Yeah. I do think
that there should be severe penalties for anyone who gives drugs to kids, or
alcohol for that matter but that is a separate issue.
Many
people assume that they are the same. As far as the adults go I mean as long
as no one else is hurt in the process who cares what a grown adult
does in the privacy of
their own home. There's too many other more important things to worry about
right now. The worst part is that the black market we create through
prohibition of drugs is the very black market which funds terrorism and
crime organizations and that's what really concerns me. Terrorist and crime
organizations are the primary beneficiaries of this large surplus of untaxed
and untraceable cash created by prohibition of
substances. Now more
than ever we need to prioritize threats and to make wise choices to take
away this large surplus of money available to criminals and terrorists. Plus
we could use the surplus money from the sales of substances and from the
savings in law enforcement and prison expenses for drug treatment and fight
the war on terrorism at the same time. To me it's just that simple."
